By: Jason Theodosakis, - A Step-By-Step Program to Faster, Stronger Healing During Any Stage of the Cure. Arthritis Book Review
This book was written by Jason Theodosakis, M.D., M.S:, M.P.H. Brenda Adderly, M.H.A., and Barry Fox, PH.D. It has a forward by Amal K. Das, Jr. M.D. Last year the 35 million Americans who suffer from osteoarthritis discovered a revolutionary altemative to conventional treatments when St. Martin's Press published The Arthritis Cure by Dr. Jason Theodosakis.
The book introduced Americans to two little known natural substances called glucosamine and chondroitin sulfates that when taken together rebuild the lost bone cartilage that causes osteoarthritis. Arthritis sufferer and health columnist for The New York Times, Jane Brody tested the substances herself and in her column reported that "I have stopped limping, I am playing tennis and ice skating with less pain, and my knees have stopped swelling after strenuous activity."
The book became a national phenomenon, hitting The New York Times list at number one. It made the USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. Dr. Theodosakis continues to receive hundreds of letters from readers thanking him for finally ending their arthritis pain.
The book made major news and was covered in Time, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, USA Today and was featured on the Today Show, Primetime Live, Dateline NBC, and several other news shows. In January of 1998 came the must-have companion to this break through book.
MAXIMIZING THE ARTHRITIS CURE: A Step-By-Step Program to Faster, Stronger Healing During Any Stage of the Cure by Jason Theodosakis, M.D., M.S., M.P.H., Brenda Adderly, M.H.A., and Barry Fox, PH.D. It is a guide packed with new information. This follow-up explains how to implement the program that was briefly laid out in The Arthritis Cure.
MAXIMIZING THE ARTHRITIS CURE provides new information about the benefits of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfates. It contains cutting-edge research that introduces an amazing supplement that may not only help speed up the "cure" in those with osteoarthritis, but may also alleviate the suffering of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
It has tailored menu plans that boost glucosamine and other important bone-building antioxidants in the bloodstream. There are also specialized strength training and aerobic exercise programs for each arthritis "hot" spot. The book contains exercises to improve the body's biomechanics by maximizing the reader's ability to effectively use his own body in the prevention of future joint problems.
Other new arthritis remedies are reviewed with an eye toward what's hype and what's not; what works and what doesn't in the field of arthritis treatments.
Dr. Theodosakis first noticed the benefits of the "cure" when he treated himself. He began suffering from arthritis in childhood after damaging the cartilage in his elbows while practicing judo. At 29, after further sports injuries, he was "essentially crippled" by the disease.
His knees were so stiff that he could not climb stairs. His elbows were so inflamed he had difficulty lifting a toothbrush. After the standard pills failed to help, he searched for alternatives. He read about glucosamine and chrondroitin sulfate use in animals and in human trials in Europe. After two years of collecting data he tried the compounds, he was off anti-inflammatory pills within two weeks.
He then gave the supplements to his mother, grandmother and his dog. The success he had with them and with his patients during the next three years left him, he says, "absolutely convinced". Dr. Theodosakis has gained tremendous experience treating osteoarthritis at the famous Canyon Ranch health spa in Arizona where he is staff physician. He has a mission to cure osteoarthritis, and after the success of The Arthritis Cure and with MAXIMIZING THE ARTHRITIS CURE, he is well on his way.
"I don't know how to really say 'thanks.' But, I thought you should know that your work has revitalized the lifestyle of at least one grateful man. At 70 years of age, I no longer need a cane, and I'm no longer in pain. Last weekend my wife and I danced at a dinner party. I hadn't been able to do that for more than 10 years." --Norman Beck, Peoria, Arizona.
"Just two weeks, and already the changes are dramatic. Both knees are so much looser, more supple and stronger. There's less bone clicking, friction and pain. I have much less stiffness when getting out of bed or out of the car or off my knees in church! I'm ecstatic and deeply grateful to you." --Father Miles O'Reily of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Belmont, California.
"I have a knee that has given me considerable trouble since I first injured it in 1936. There have been long periods when it pained me very little, but it would eventually flare up again. As I aged the flare-ups became more frequent and more severe. The last three or four years, there have been several times I could hardly walk.
I was on the verge of making an appointment to have surgery when I saw you on one of the morning shows on TV. I rushed to buy your book and started the treatments as soon as I found the pills. In three weeks my knee had improved immensely and in six it bothered me little to not at all. It has been about three months and I am still taking 1000 mg glucosanine and 250 mg of chondroitin twice daily.
For the first time in years I am practically pain free. I need no cane and I need no surgery." --George Baker, El Dorado Springs, Missouri.
"For over thirty years I've had a lower lumbar back problem that generated attacks of various intensities. X-rays of the area showed the presence of osteoarthritis that was the causation of these attacks. There was no evidence of bulging or herniated disks. Subsequently, I developed various degrees of osteoarthritis in my right knee, left elbow, both wrists, and the upper neck.
Upon reading The Arthritis Cure, I began taking glucosamine and chondroitin sulfates at a reduced rate to solidify these improvements. Besides the tremendous relief there have been added benefit, a most welcome increase in body and mental energy level." --Roy Feher, Tucson, Arizona (age 69).
